| Why is it that we continuously do things in hopes that they will make us feel better, knowing full well that in the end, they will only make us feel worse? |

Duh. It's cause many humans love to self destruct and wallow in their own pain, misery, and failure. And by many, I mean mostly just me.
So, what's bringing you down on this end of the spectrum, eh?
Speaking of doing something harmful in hopes of alleviation... It reminded me of the time, about two centuries ago, I found out the Easter Bunny wasn't real and I went on a crucifixion spree... and whoa-an-behold, I accidentally killed Christ... Damned if I didn't damn my soul to hell... (or would have if I hadn't already bargained it away to the devil for a Klondike Bar... damn those delightful little treats... Now when they ask me what I would do for one... you already know the answer)...
